  • Producer’s Note
Paul McCartney was so impressed when he heard Wes' version of "A Day in the Life" that he sent me a tape dub of “Let it Be” (before the Beatles' record was released). We had just completed Road Song and had scheduled "Let it Be" for Wes's next recording session. Wes passed away shortly before the session was to have taken place.

    A Five Star Period Recording
Wes Montgomery made history by honoring the Beatles with this LP. It was a hit in the late-sixties and is a classic today. –

Great Influence on Today’s Jazz Guitarists
You can hear Wes in the music of artists like George Benson, Pat Metheny and Wayman Tisdale. Wes was a great writer in his own right, but his reading of the Beatles’ “A Day in the Life” is classic. He completely makes the song his own. I’m not sure that if you played it for someone unfamiliar with Montgomery’s music they would be able to even identify it.
